After being crowned champions of the incredible hit ITV Series Mamma Mia: I Have a Dream, West End Stars Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley reunite again for a one-night only concert at Cadogan Hall. Joined by Esme Bowler and Jacob Fowler, audiences can expect some of musical theatre's most iconic duets, as well as lots of lovely surprises throughout the evening. We took the opportunity to speak with Stevie and Tobias to tell us more.

Q) Hello - before we begin, please could you introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit more about your show Here We Go Again which will be held at Cadogan Hall this May?

Tobias: My name is Tobias Turley, you may know me as the winner of the ITV1 show ‘Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream’ or from my other work such as Heathers and West Side Story. I’m so excited to be back performing with Stevie this time at the iconic Cadogan Hall. This venue means a lot to me, so it’s a dream come true to be performing there.

Stevie: Hello! My name is Stevie Doc and I am a Scottish actress from Glasgow. Toby and I will be reuniting for one night only in the incredible Cadogan Hall to sing some of our most iconic duets and solos along with some new, unseen performances along with our very talented special guests Esme Bowdler and Jacob Fowler!

Q) You both won the incredible hit TV series Mamma Mia: I Have a Dream which gave you both the opportunity to star on the West End in Mamma Mia - please can you give us a little insight into this experience and how your time was playing Sophie and Sky at the Novello Theatre?

Stevie: Mamma Mia! has been the gift that keeps on giving. At times, the work was hard but equally rewarding and so much fun - especially having the chance to work and learn from Anthony Van Laast and Martin Lowe.

Tobias: The TV show was such a great experience, I have so many fond memories of our time over in Greece, and of course I met 13 other amazing performers who I’m glad to call my friends to this day.  Our time at the Novello theatre in Mamma Mia was so great. We had lots of amazing experiences throughout the year: West End Live, performing at the Britain’s Got Talent Final, This Morning. Just to name a few.

Q) As theatre performers, what’s one lesson or tidbit of knowledge that you learnt from your time on the show that you’ll take with you onto future jobs?

Stevie: I learned so much from the show and from all of our incredible judges, but I think the biggest lesson was to just be yourself! People want to work with nice people. I always felt like I had to put on my “professional pants” on doing a job and yes you have to be professional but that doesn’t mean boring. Opinions are allowed as long as they’re respectful. Having fun is allowed. Being silly is allowed as long as you pick the right moments. It also makes the job so much easier and they more open you are to enjoying it all, they better the day, rehearsal or performance will be!

Tobias: I have to agree with Stevie on this one, I learned so much because of the amount of industry Titans around us. The judges, the Tony award winning musical director Lowe, the incomparable Van Laast. I tried to soak in every piece of advice and notes they had for me. One major thing I learnt is about recall. We had to learn a lot of material in such a short amount of time. I really had to lockdown my learning techniques which really helps me with auditions and learning scripts.

Q) Your concert Here We Go Again will be presented as a staged concert, how have you found the process of getting ready for this show as opposed to being involved in a fully staged production such as a musical or play?

Tobias: Preparing for this concert has been both exciting and challenging. We wanted to make sure there was a perfect mixture of songs the fans want to hear, dream songs for us to sing and songs that mean a lot to Stevie and I’s journey. I believe we have made a set list that fulfils this and I’m really excited to present it to our audience.

Stevie: One of the best parts of being a performer is getting to perform a variety of material from different styles of shows and music, so doing a concert is something I’m really looking forward to! It has its challenges - jumping from one style to the next and not having a storyline to follow throughout, but I’ve really been enjoying getting to a little bit of everything.

Q) A couple of special guests have just been announced for the concert, what can you tell us about their involvement and what you think they will bring to the show?

Tobias: Yes, we have 2 amazing friends of mine joining us, I’m so excited to have them with us. We have some really great numbers their involved with but obviously I don’t want to spoil anything.

Stevie: Esme and Jacob are phenomenal performers and I can’t wait to do some really fun and exciting numbers with them both, and of course we have 3 ex Heathers cast members so there might be a little bit of that in there too.

Q) Do you find it easier or more challenging to be yourself on stage or get into character on stage?

Tobias: Both can present their own individual challenges, but I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t enjoy both options. I love the idea of being able to just be myself on stage and have a laugh, on the other hand delving into a character and learning everything you can about them is so much fun.

Stevie: I think I find it easier to be myself on stage but I prefer to play a character. Theatre is escapism at the end of the day and it’s nice to be able to play a character because you get to make up your own back story and decide what makes the character so interesting. It’s a lot more work obviously but it’s just so rewarding by the end!

Q) What can audiences expect and why should audiences come along?

They should expect a fun-filled evening, full of laughs, great songs and some games too. It’s not something you want to miss.

Stevie's and Tobias' concert Here We Go Again will run at Cadogan Hall on Saturday 10th May, with limited tickets still available.
