Mark O’Halloran’s award-winning play Conversations After Sex comes to Park Theatre from the team of Ye You Productions. This play explores the nature of grief, loneliness and promiscuity to show us how intimacy can unlock unforeseen connections.
We took the opportunity to speak with Olivia Lindsay, who is Artistic Director of Ye You Productions and will be starring in the show, to tell us more.
Q) Hello - Before we begin, please could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit more about your background in theatre?
I’m Olivia Lindsay. My background is a mix of producing and acting and I’ve always been drawn to intimate, character-driven stories. I grew up in London and have been involved in a variety of productions across the UK and NYC. Theatre has always felt like a space where I can explore human connection in all its complexity.
Q) You are the Artistic Director of Ye You Productions - can you tell us what your inspiration was for creating this production company and what you strive to achieve within your theatre making?
Ye You Productions was born out of a desire to create space for nuanced, emotionally honest work that doesn’t shy away from the messy or the quiet. I wanted to champion voices and stories that linger with you — theatre that sits in the silences as much as the dialogue. Our work leans into the intimate and the intricate, always with a strong emphasis on human connection and emotional truth.
Q) Ye You Productions are bringing Mark O’Halloran’s Conversations After Sex to Park Theatre this April-May - what was it about this piece of theatre that sparked interest and made you want to present it?
The first time I read Conversations After Sex, I was struck by its rawness. It’s tender, brutal, funny, and deeply human. Mark O’Halloran’s writing captures something so truthful about loneliness, grief, and how we attempt to find meaning and connection — often in the most unexpected or transient places. It felt urgent and necessary, and I knew immediately that this was the kind of story Ye You Productions wanted to tell.
Q) As well as this being the UK premiere for Conversations After Sex, it is also Ye You Production’s debut. Can you give us a little insight into the process of bringing this show to life?
It’s been a beautiful, challenging, and incredibly rewarding process. Being a debut, everything has felt fresh and full of discovery — from assembling the creative team to navigating the nuances of staging such a powerful piece. I’ve worked very closely with Jess Edwards, our amazing director, and we’ve made sure we approach the material with our own perspective, and we are so excited to give it a life in London. It’s been a journey of care and collaboration.
Q) As well as being Artistic Director, you are also an actor and will be performing in this show. Has your experience and knowledge of acting supported your work as Artistic Director?
It gives me a stronger sense of what actors need and how to shape a story from within. It’s also crucial to create a space where the cast feels safe and empowered to explore scenes openly and instinctively.
Q) Can you tell us a little bit more about Conversations After Sex and what audiences can expect?
The play unfolds in the fragile spaces after intimacy — those 2AM or 2pm moments when people talk because there's nothing left to lose. It follows a woman grappling with grief and the string of encounters she has in the wake of that loss. It’s funny, devastating, awkward, tender — and entirely human. Audiences can expect a deeply emotional experience, one that feels both raw and beautifully familiar.
Q) Why should audiences come along?
Because it’s rare to find theatre that’s this honest, this unafraid to sit in stillness and say, “This is what it feels like to be human.” Whether you’ve known heartbreak, loneliness, or the ache of connection, this piece will meet you where you are. It’s an invitation to listen, to feel, and maybe to leave just a little more open than when you arrived. And also laugh a lot (hopefully).
Conversations After Sex plays at Park Theatre from 30th April until 17th May.
